a Lithuanian visual artist based in Vilnius, he is interested in topics of time, experience, existence, and relationships of inner and outer worlds. His recent exhibition, BSoD_24, serves as a reaction to prevailing global events. His art practice is based on a challenging understanding of what defines painting, picture, and image and how it applies to the interdisciplinary needs of the contemporary art scene.
Before arriving in Kintai, I had been exploring the theme of „territory”. My focus has been on the paper or canvas format, envisioning it as a playground for various artistic expressions that assert and inhabit the space within the picture. I am investigating diverse ways to imbue meaning into the positioning and claiming of space. Upon arriving in Kintai, I encountered swamps and marshes, which, both symbolically and literally, are impassable. It makes this territory reflect. Reflection is a beloved symbol of fantasy and the inner world for me, and in my current work, it takes turns in asserting its presence within the picture.
