Migle Križinauskaitė

Miglė Križinauskaitė is a photographer and experimental documentary filmmaker whose work explores the relationship between time, memory, and the interplay of still and moving images. In 2020, she completed her MA in Film Directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD focused on experimental film.

Rooted in analogue photography and experimental cinema, Miglė’s artistic practice is shaped by influences of autoethnography and psychogeography. She creates cinematic experiences in which the boundary between landscape and dreamscape dissolves — the environment becomes a shared, shifting experience shaped by intention, embodied perception, and the tactile qualities of 35mm slides and Super 8mm film.

At the residency, Miglė is working on a Polaroid diptych study capturing the inner and outer terrains of Aukštumala Bog – a liminal geography: neither fully land nor water, formed and continuously forming over millennia by moss, humidity, and time. Aukštumala Bog resists easy representation.

Each diptych pairs two images from the same spot: one sharp black-and-white instant image, the other on expired color Polaroid film that is dreamy, warping, fading, or eroding. This ongoing process meditates on the fragile tension between clarity and disappearance.
