Aurélie d’Incau is a Luxembourgish visual artist currently working between Lisbon and Luxembourg. Convinced that art has a social purpose and that Play is the glue between social and artistic work, she made Play her weapon of choice to attack difficult topics such as life in a community, empathy, ethics, or even mental health. As a result her art oscillates between installation, story telling, illustration, video-art, puppetry, costume design and performance – wrapped into a cloak of humor and a pinch of sarcasm.
At Kintai Arts, Aurélie was exploring the folk traditions around birds and the traditional craft techniques in the area. Aurélie D’Incau, along with Iliyana Grigorova, Nura Afnan-Samandari, Vittoria Quartararo and Insa Schülting participated in a residency programme „Feast of the Birds”. Unfolding as an international and interdisciplinary laboratory, the residency was hosting five artists who were exploring the rich diversity of birds in the Curonian area.
The fleeting nature of birds and landscapes serves as the starting point for this open process, which is being complemented by artist talks, presentations, workshops, and other forms of artistic research, organized in collaboration with the inhabitants of Kintai.
