I’m a visual artist and traveller from Bulgaria. Since graduating with a BA in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging from the University of Sunderland, I’ve been drawn to experimenting with alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype. Photography remains at the core of my practice, while everything else I do orbits around it.
I love working with communities, observing closely, and forming quiet connections through my art. I arrived in Kintai after a slow and thoughtful journey by train through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Lithuania — a route that echoes the paths of migrating birds, a theme I’ve been exploring over the past two years.
▶ Iliyana Grigorova, along with Aurélie D’Incau, Nura Afnan-Samandari, Vittoria Quartararo and Insa Schülting was participating in a residency programme „Feast of the Birds”. Unfolding as an international and interdisciplinary laboratory, the residency was hosting five artists who were exploring the rich diversity of birds in the Curonian area.
The fleeting nature of birds and landscapes serves as the starting point for this open process, which is being complemented by artist talks, presentations, workshops, and other forms of artistic research, organized in collaboration with the inhabitants of Kintai.
