Gemma Hansson Carbone
Italian – Swedish performer and theater director. In 2015 she founded Naprawski, a trans-national platform of artists, based in Göteborg. Her creations have been performed in Europe and Asia, receiving many recognitions and international awards. Since 2018, she also collaborates with the Göteborgs Stadsteatern for national and international productions. She is awarded by the Italian national grant MovinUp, by MIC Ministero Italiano della Cultura and GAi – Associazione Giovani Artisti Italiani and since 2017 she is supported by the Swedish National Art Council Konstnärsnamnden. She is also a proud activist-embroiderer.
Timoteo Hansson Carbone
Italian-Swedish musician, composer and sound artist. He was featured in many festivals and art institutions, such as Gaudeamus Muziek Festival (Utrecht), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam), Museum Stedelijk (Amsterdam), A Dag in de Branding Festival and Rewire Festival (Den Haag), Fabbrica Europa Festival (Firenze), Romaeuropa Festival (Rome). In 2021 he formed a company, “YoY Performing Arts”, with dancer and choreographer Emma Zani and Roberto Doveri, developing contemporary dance and music works.
During the residency, they are implementing the first phase of research for their project „Children of Sun”, about folklore and traditional music of the Curonian and Samogitian regions. They are researching into the cults and mythologies around the Goddess of the Sun, that have many similarities and connections with the Norse and Sami ancient religions. In Kintai Gemma and Timoteo are connecting and working with different Folkloric groups, learning traditional songs and dances and delving into local culture.
