There was a strong feeling that it had to be done. The creative practice often relied on the hope for a happy accident. Arriving at Kintai, there was no clear idea of what exactly was going to be done. For quite a long time, there had been suffering from photographer’s block. There was hope that being in Kintai, away from familiar surroundings, might provide a fresh impulse. It worked. Being there brought back a sense of magic in everyday things. There was a newfound desire to photograph the view from the window, the nearby road, and many other things. It felt meaningful and important.

Another significant aspect was the desire to step away from professional activities practiced for years and dive into the mode of a happy amateur. Some drawings were made, featuring similar mundane subjects as in the photographs. Drawing was not a frequent activity, so the skills were quite limited. However, being in this novice mode brought fresh joy and a feeling of playfulness.

Since analog photography is used, it takes some time and equipment to get a final image.
