We are thrilled to present the third release featuring multi-channel sound pieces by artists Adomas Palekas (LT\/NL) and Elif G\u00fclin So\u011fuksu (TR\/DE). These compositions were created during the two-week Kintai.Kitaip sound art residency in Kintai. Each year, two guest sound artists take up Kintai Art Residency, where they develop <\/span>in situ<\/span><\/i> sound works that explore the natural and cultural landscape of Kintai. The pieces from this release were originally developed and performed for an 8-channel loudspeaker arrangement in Kintai church.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The concept of space spans multiple dimensions: the architectural space, the emotional<\/span> space, and the bodily space. Synthesized sounds, field recordings, micro sounds\u2014electronic<\/span> clicks, impulses, and discrete sounds\u2014and ethereal voices and harmonies traverse the<\/span> surfaces, colliding into the texture, density, and sparseness of the space. Through an<\/span> exploration of the physicality of sound in space and its impact on the listener’s body, sounds<\/span> resonate with one\u2019s skin, body, and bones and tickle one\u2019s ears. Voices draw others into their<\/span> fold, allowing the affective impact to become one in different bodies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>in the perpetual circle<\/span><\/i> was composed in July 2024 during the Kintai.Kitaip sound-art<\/span> residency program in Kintai. The composition\/performance is originally a site-specific work<\/span> created for eight speakers set up in a peculiar arrangement within the Kintai church, later<\/span> shortened and mixed down for stereo. It investigates the physical aspects of the space and<\/span> the tactile nature of sound. It was developed through live-coding experiments utilizing<\/span> algorithmic methods to synthesize, process, and spatialize sounds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Elif G\u00fclin So\u011fuksu is an electroacoustic composer, sound artist, performer, and researcher<\/span> born in Istanbul and currently based in <\/span>Berlin<\/span>. She recently obtained her master\u2019s<\/span> degree at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague (NL). Elif draws inspiration from the<\/span> imagination in sound; her compositional practice grounds on catching the sounds of the<\/span> mind. She researches essentially on the human voice as a potent in the formation of<\/span> mentally produced sounds and it can be employed for creative approaches to dealing with<\/span> electronic music. Her electroacoustic pieces and live performances bridge algorithmic<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>approaches, including voice-driven live electronics and creative coding, digital processing,<\/span> acousmatic music, and spatial sound.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>S\u0117ja<\/span><\/i>\u202fis a spatial-sound performance exploring cumulative sound processes. Originally the performance was premiered at the Great Church in Kintai, utilizing an 8-channel loudspeaker arrangement and acoustic sound sources \u2013 pine cones and acorns.<\/span> The sound material reflects upon the surroundings of Kintai. Songs of the migrating birds mesh with whooshing waves, the clicks of falling pinecones and acorns meet the breaking glass at the abandoned V\u0117trung\u0117 summer camp.<\/span> A<\/span><\/i>s these dense and familiar soundscapes are reduced to singular events and reconstructed anew, clouds of uncanny and fictional sound formations emerge.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Adomas Palekas (Vilnius, Den Haag) – sound artist, engineer and biotechnologist working at the intersection of science and art. His current focus is creating circuits of extended phenotype – sound devices that invite biotic and abiotic worlds to enact upon the music making process. With these interfaces, Adomas explores processes beyond our sonic perception: microbial metabolism, (in)organic bodies or chemical reactions, which become the primary compositional forces in his emergent sound works. <\/span>
